Tell us about practice times and locations?

Practices for the 2009-2010 school year will be held at Rocky Heights Middle School 11033 Monarch Blvd Highlands Ranch, CO 80124, adjacent to Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch. Practices will also be held at Mountain Ridge Middle Shool.  Practices are scheduled Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 6-9 pm. Two hour practices.   If Douglas County Schools are not open on the day of practice, then Colorado Gold practice will be cancelled as well.

What are the costs associated with being a member of the Colorado Gold?

Currently the costs are as follows: the tryout fee is $15, the one time membership fee is $50, and monthly dues are $100.  The only other costs associated with Colorado Gold will be fees associated with participation in basketball tournaments or leagues.  The membership fees pays for the addition of the player on the club insurance policy, T-shirts and misc.  The monthly dues pay for the coaches, gym time, ongoing insurance, the web site, etc.

What age groups will the boys program have participating?

Boys 6th and 8th grade level for 2009-2010. Grade level is based on their current grade for Spring, Fall & Winter and their previous grade during the Summer.

Can you tell us about tryouts?

At least initially, tryouts for 2009-2010 will take place March 5, 12 & 19th and the first practice of every month and will occur during our regularly scheduled practices.  Tryouts will last 2-3 practices and then at that time you will receive notification from the coaches regarding your status.

Can you tell us about the special Saturday practices?

On some selected Saturdays, we will have special practices where invited guests will come in and lecture and run practice.  These guests will include college coaches, high school coaches and former players.  This will be an excellent opportunity for you to learn the game from other knowledgeable basketball minds.  We will also schedule scrimmages against other teams on Saturdays.  There are no additional costs associated with these Saturday sessions.

What about high school age players?

High school players are welcome to attend our practices during the year and prepare for their upcoming high school season.  Travel teams and tournaments for high school age players will be determined at a future date.

Are parents allowed in the gym during practices?

Parents are welcome to sit in on practice.  However, since practice is “teaching time” we would ask that parents communicate with each other in quietly and if necessary go out into the hall to answer cell phones, etc.  We would also ask parents to not interrupt or visit with their sons during practice, except if there is an emergency, so that their sons can concentrate on practice and the coaching staff.

What is the best way for parents to communicate with the coaching staff?

The first practice of each month, the coaching staff will be at practice 30 minutes before each practice to address any concerns or problems that parents might have. If there is an urgent reason to contact the coaches, please email the website and we will respond in a timely manner.

Will the coaches work with me on an individual basis?

If you want more individual time with one of the coaches, please email the coaches.  The cost for individual instruction is $60 for two hours.  Small groups can also be arranged.

Will I get feedback on my progress as a member of Colorado Gold?

Our goal is to give you periodic evaluations on those basketball skills that need the most focus in order to make you an all-around basketball player.
